KeyCode:

  • What devices are KeyCode-compatible?

    Bank of Ireland KeyCode works with all major smart mobile devices, including iOS, Android, Windows smartphone, iPod Touch and tablet (excluding Amazon Fire tablet devices).

    Minimum technical specifications:

    Android 4.1; iOS 8; Windows mobile OS 8.1 (not compatible with Windows 10 Home edition).

    For security reasons, we recommend using separate devices for accessing Business On Line Payments and authentication with the Bank of Ireland KeyCode app.

    The ‘Bank of Ireland KeyCode’ app is available to download from all official app stores.

  • Do I need internet access, cellular access or a SIM card for the app to work?

    Once the app is downloaded it does not require online/internet access to work. No sim card or cellular access is required.

  • How much storage space does the app require?

    KeyCode requires less than 2MB free storage space on your smartphone or tablet.

  • Can I download the KeyCode app for other users?

    Each User ID can be linked to one KeyCode app only. If you wish to set up additional Business On Line Payments Plus User IDs, each attached to their own KeyCode app, please contact us.

    Note: Your Business On Line Administrator(s) must activate your KeyCode app before you can use it with Business On Line Payments Plus.

  • What is file hashing / HashTab?

    File hashing is a recognised method of verifying that the file being sent is the same as the file being received. HashTab is free software that is used for this purpose.

  • How do I find a file’s hash value?

    Once you have installed HashTab on your computer, you will be able to use this software to find the hash value of your stored files. This will be required when authorising credit transfer payment files on Business On Line Payments Plus.

    Windows Users

    File hash values can be viewed by right-clicking on your file icon, selecting Properties and clicking on the file hashes tab,

    When inputting the hash value into your KeyCode app, all letters must be UPPER CASE.

    When importing files you will need the first 6 digits of this value. This value should be recorded after creating your payment file.

    Note: If the hash values have changed between file creation and authorisation then the details contained in the file will have changed.

    Mac Users

    File hash values can be viewed by right-clicking on your file icon and then clicking on the file hashes option. It will then open the file hash application and display the hash value.

    When inputting the hash value into your KeyCode app, all letters must be UPPER CASE.

  • What should I do if I lose my phone or get a new one?

    Users

    Users should download the app to their new device and contact their Administrator.

    Administrators

    Administrators should download the app to their new device and contact the Business On Line Helpdesk.

  • I’ve forgotten my PIN for accessing my Bank of Ireland KeyCode app. What should I do?

    If you forget your PIN, you will need to reset your app. After five incorrect PIN attempts, you will be presented with the Serial Number screen, showing a new Serial Number. Your Business On Line User will need to be updated with this new Serial Number. Please contact your Administrator/s for support.

  • The password you entered is invalid.

    If you have already generated a password on your KeyCode app, click ‘New Logon Code’ and enter the code into Business On Line Payments Plus before it times out.

    Note: Manually changing the time setting on your KeyCode device could result in the above error message displaying. Check that automatic date and time settings are in use on your device.

  • The registration code you entered is invalid.
    • Open the KeyCode app again to display the Serial Number on Business On Line
    • Click on the hyperlink under the Password section to return to the previous screen
    • Now, re-enter your Serial Number and follow the on-screen instructions
  • The Payment Code you entered was incorrect.
    • Click Main Menu on the KeyCode app
    • Click Payments
    • New Challenge code is presented on Business On Line Payments Plus
    • Enter this code into your KeyCode app
    • KeyCode will respond with a 6-digit Payment Code
    • Enter this into Business On Line Payments Plus
    • Click Authorise

    Note: Manually changing the time setting on your KeyCode device could result in the above error message displaying. Check that automatic date and time settings are in use on your device.

  • The Payee/Import file code you entered was Incorrect.

    Checklist

    • Check that the hash value entered into KeyCode is correct. This value is case sensitive, and you should be entering the first 6 digits/characters of the file’s hash value. Click here for instructions on how to find this value.
    • Check the hash value has not changed since the file was originally created.
    • Check that you have entered the Payee/Import file code generated on KeyCode correctly.

    To start the process again

    • Open your KeyCode app and enter your PIN
    • Select the Payee/Import file option
    • Enter the hash value into the Parameter 1 field on your KeyCode app and tap OK. Click here for instructions on how to find this value.
    • Enter the Payee/Import file code into the field provided and click Authorise File.
